It seems that not a day goes by without us talking about Nvidia , but the American company remains in the spotlight for its latest generation technologies: DLSS and raytracing in real time. The last game to receive the blessing / curse is Metro Exodus (whose analysis you can read here ), which arrives on the market tomorrow, and Green has already launched the new driver package to prepare its graphics for launch. According to patch notes , promises to deliver «optimal gaming experience using DLSS and raytracing in Battlefield V and Metro Exodus < / b> ”. But the interesting thing is how DLSS is implemented with games based on resolution and graphics cards.

On the one hand, we have the case of Battlefield V Nvidia ensures that the DLSS improves performance by 50% , and adds that “now you can play Battlefield V with DXR ray tracing with options in High, higher resolutions and levels of detail [… ] thanks to the inclusion of DLSS ”. Now, we must clarify that not all graphics get along with the combination of DLSS and raytracing in all resolutions.

Things are like this, according to Nvidia:

  • 3840×2160: all RTX graphs
  • 2560×1440: RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080
  • 1920×1080: RTX 2060 and 2070


Then there are the recommended settings to get 60 fps :

  • RTX 2060: 2560×1440, High quality, Medium DXR, DLSS activated
  • RTX 2070: 2560×1440, Ultra quality, DXR Medium, DLSS activated
  • RTX 2080: 2560×1440, Ultra quality, DXR Ultra, DLSS activated
  • RTX 2080 Ti: 3840×2160, Ultra quality, DXR Ultra, DLSS activated

In the case of Metro Exodus, there are two levels of detail for ray tracing: High and Ultra. Nvidia says that the difference is not very obvious when we are on the move (that is, most of the time), so Alto recommends to improve the frame rate. However, if we activate the DLSS, in this case we would obtain 30% more performance according to the green. Interestingly, in the case of the 4A Games game, Nvidia does not talk about «better visual experience», but «a feeling of anxiety that immerses you in the game.» Interesting change of third, right? Although it is true that the comparisons show that the scenes illuminated with ray tracing there is a greater sense of darkness inside and covered spaces, of course.

It is fantastic that Nvidia continues working to bring to the market a better visual experience and that it accompanies it with an ideal solution to avoid losing game performance, but it still has a lot to do. Users are not convinced because, apart from the cost of the new graphics, there are still only two games that make use of these technologies.
