The new laptops ruled by the 8th generation of Intel Core processors are really lighter and more powerful. But there is more, much more.

Yesterday, we attended the traditional Intel  Showroom that was held in the Theatres Luchana Madrid. In this meeting, the manufacturer displays the technology that the users will be able to find in stores during the Christmas campaign, which represents an interesting thermometer of what will happen in the most important period for manufacturers and sellers.

This year coincides with the launch of the 8th generation Intel Core processors within the family of chips to laptops and 2-in-1. Its design increases up to 40% the performance of the previous generation. To give you an idea, it would be the double of power if you compare these chips with the of a PC of 5 years ago. In addition, to be manufactured with technology of 14 nm (later will come the first to encapsulation of 10 nm), reducing energy consumption despite of being governed by four nuclei.

The first computers with Intel Core 8th generation were presented during the last IFA in Berlin and from September will be available in specialty shops. During the Showroom of Intel we had the chance to see them in action. Models such as Acer Nitro 5 Spin, Dell XPS 13, Dell Inspiron 7000, HP Spectre x360 or Lenovo Yoga 920 are the first to introduce this technology of Intel.

Intel goes beyond the PC

is Not exactly a new strategy, but it is true that Intel confirms once more the change of direction decided to take a couple of years ago and that I’ve talked about on several occasions. Since then, decided to focus its innovation efforts in areas as strategic as the Artificial Intelligence, The Virtual Reality, the 5G and  Automatic Driving.

As usual, Carlos Clerencia, director general of Intel for Spain and Portugal, desgranaba during the presentation to the media, these trends and developments that are giving the manufacturer on them. The last two, 5G and automatic driving iran’s hand in the adoption, since autonomous cars will need low latencies and reduced response times while sending and receiving vast amounts of data to which this technology is sufficiently reliable.

Virtual reality will extend beyond the videogames business
Virtual reality will extend beyond the videogames business

Virtual reality is an area that grows as the days go by. However, the company goes far beyond the videogame sector , where this type of technologies enjoys great acceptance. Virtual reality (or mixed reality, as Intel prefers to call it) will be extended in fields as critical as healthcare. Very soon we will see doctors perform operations on patients using it, for example.

And what about artificial intelligence, a world that makes its way in each and every one of the sectors we know today. According to Intel, the application of artificial intelligence will transform all organizations and areas in which the human being moves.

Another of the outstanding initiatives that were shown during the Intel Showroom was memory technology Intel Optane , which is currently available in external 16GB and 32GB modules but will gradually be extended to other computer and consumer electronics components. That first generation, in an external storage unit format, is capable of running applications and games up to 67% faster than with conventional disks.
