Speaking at the last meeting of shareholders, the president of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, has had occasion to speak on the current state of Nintendo Switch Online. According to the executive, currently the subscription service has more than 10 million users, which represents a growth of somewhat more than 200,000 accounts from the past month of April. However, while enjoying a flow "solid" new users, Nintendo believes that it is "extremely important" to maintain the attractiveness of the service, promising to strive for the future.

Reviewing the qualities of Nintendo Switch Online, Furukawa lists "[the games] Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Switch Online [online multiplayer], saved games in the cloud and services for the mobile application, as the multiplayer lobbies and voice chat". The executive recalls that "in addition, we offered Tetris 99 as a special incentive for members of Nintendo Switch Online in February, and in may, we began to sell cards with codes redeemable for the Nintendo Switch that allow users to download two titles with a discount. We recognize that it is extremely important to make the service Nintendo Switch Online more attractive to users, and we will continue to make the content of the service even more interesting in the future".

what will ensure that this attractive? For now, it is a mystery. Furukawa recognizes, however, that a good part of the community would like access to a greater variety of classic Nintendo games, beyond the NES.
