Beat Huawei and Qualcomm.


The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has revealed that ZTE leads the annual list of application patents.

The Chinese company, which has interpreted the news as an unequivocal sign of its commitment to R&D, submitted a total of 4,123 patent applications in 2016. In second place the Chinese brand also Huawei, with 3,692 applications followed by Qualcomm, with 2,466.

The automotive firm Mitsubishi Electric ranked fourth , with 2,053 applications for patent applications. In the fifth place one more electronics company: LG Electronics, with 1,888 applications in 2016.

ZTE invests more than 10% of its annual income in R&D and has a total of 20 research and development centers spread across the globe. In 2016 alone, it generated 1,500 patent applications related to 5G.
