The company MediaTek has replenished the arsenal of mobile processors with a new chip Helio P22. This is an eight-core solution, performed on a 12-nm process technology on the FinFET architecture. The processor is equipped with graphics accelerator IMG PowerVR and a modem supporting 4G LTE.

MediaTek Helio P22 will bring graphics PowerVR and screens 20: 9 in smartphones of the middle class

MediaTek Helio P22 uses eight cores of Cortex-A53 operating at a frequency of up to 2.0 GHz. There is support for 4 GB of RAM LPDDR3 with a frequency of 933 MHz or 6 GB with a frequency of 1,600 MHz. The processing of graphics is handled by a new video accelerator IMG PowerVR GE8320 650 MHz. Support for widescreen displays with a 20: 9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1600×720 pixels is claimed.

The processor has received support for dual cameras with a resolution of 13 and 8 megapixels or one up to 21 megapixels. According to the manufacturer, electronic image stabilization has been modernized with a new rolling-shatter compensation mechanism, which eliminates the effect of «jelly» when shooting motion or panorama. 3DNR technology and image scaling, together with the camera control unit, allow for faster focus and exposure control for better shooting in low light situations.
