The first OnePlus Nord will maintain the level of demand for the products launched so far, but with lower prices to reach a greater spectrum of users.

Six years after its creation, the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus has decided to change its strategy to reach a broader population spectrum, but without losing its roots, its philosophy.

Until now, the company has focused primarily on two smartphone models within the premium and extra premium categories, as well as two annual hardware updates to offer to its users the latest technology without running the risk of being outdated at the first change in a voracious market that does not stop showing increasingly aggressive configurations to increase the performance of these mobile devices to unsuspected levels.

In this way, it has announced in just over a year the models OnePlus 7 , OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 8 , all three with their respective Pro versions to cover the two high-end segments previously discussed.

Well, today we have presented the new family OnePlus Nord through your new terminal.According to the company, the time has come to share the OnePlus experience with more users, something that with previous smartphones was not possible for obvious reasons: its high benefits were linked to prices not accessible to everyone. OnePlus Nord arrives to cover that spectrum of users who are looking for a mid-range device , but with capabilities and components that are faithful to the strategy established by the manufacturer from the beginning, as we describe below.

OnePlus Nord, with the user community in mind

As part of OnePlus strategy, it has always been a common denominator to listen to the faithful community of users that the manufacturer has worldwide. And in the new Nord family this detail is no exception: “It comes after feedback from our community to respond to the real needs of users, something that we have taken into account since the launch of OnePlus One, our first smartphone. We do not only ask about what they want in future versions but we also collect their frustrations with similar devices ”, explained Silvia Parra, OnePlus Communications Manager for Germany and Spain .

In this way, the design of the brand new OnePlus Nord has focused on three key areas requested by the user community: photography , fluid experience and design .

OnePlus Nord

The rear configuration of optics and image sensors has sought to offer greater versatility, but starting from the basis of a quality main camera with a 48 MPíxel sensor ( the same combination of the OnePlus 8 with 2X optical zoom and hybrid image stabilization) and three others that reduce the cost price in the set: wide angle of 8 MPixels and 119 degrees, depth sensor of 5 MPixels to improve the bokeh effect, and a fourth optics with sensor of 2 MPpixels for the macro .

Meanwhile, on the front a 32 MP + 8 MP (wide angle) dual lens system has been added to enhance the ‘selfie’ mode.

It must be said that OnePlus continues to take care in this model of everything related to artificial intelligence algorithms , responsible for the improvement that the photographic section has achieved in the smartphone universe in recent years: » the AI algorithms in the OnePlus Nord photography have been developed and synchronized in the same way that we do in our flagships OnePlus 8 and Oneplus 8 Pro, ”said Parra. Night mode or wide-angle snapshots are an example of this.

Smooth experience thanks to the combination of software, screen and chipset

OnePlus personalization software, OxygenOS , has never tried to overload the visual and additional functionalities too much. This time, version 10.5 maintains that philosophy to ensure the best fluidity of the clean interfaces characteristic of Google’s operating system, Android 10 .

This fluidity is also responsible for one of the manufacturer’s main values, its 90Hz screen , which includes it in the new model of the Nord family. It has even been improved in the receptivity of touches and gestural movements. The 6.44-inch AMOLED panel and resolution of 2,400 × 1,080 pixels has the same brightness calibration as the OnePlus 8, although this time a screen has been included flat to lower manufacturing costs.

To complete that smooth experience the manufacturer stresses, a Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset with 8 cores and up to 2.4GHz process frequency has been included.Obviously, it is not the most powerful of Qualcomm , but it is enough so that users do not notice any slowdown during the execution of their favorite applications. In addition, this package also provides 5G connectivity, which will be greatly appreciated by those who have fifth generation coverage of mobile communications at their place of residence.

The built-in battery offers 4,115mAh and supports Warp Charge 30T (30 Watt) fast charge, ensuring a 70 percent capacity charge in just half an hour. The OnePlus Nord still does not incorporate wireless charging like its predecessors.

The new OnePlus Nord terminal will hit the market with two initial memory and storage configurations of 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB , as well as in two colors: blue and dark gray.

The launch event of the OnePlus Nord has also allowed us to discover the new OnePlus Buds wireless headphones , which offer autonomy of up to 30 hours (on three charges of approximately 10 hours), noise reduction Ambient, touch-based feature customization and quality audio with Bass Boost technology. They are the ideal complement to the company’s new smartphone.
