The legendary Swype keyboard "goes into the sunset"

Official statement from the company Nuance developers Swype Keyboard:

We sadly say that for Swype + Dragon for Android, the end of development has come. Here’s the statement from the Swype product group:

Nuance will no longer update the Swype + Dragon keyboard for Android. We regret leaving the business, but this change is necessary so that we can focus on developing our solutions for artificial intelligence for sale directly to businesses.

We hope you enjoyed using Swype. We certainly enjoyed working with the community.

Nuance will focus on developing text recognition technologies for different companies. In particular, Dragon Dictation technology is actively used by medical organizations. Also, the company recently received an order to use its software to dictate text in vehicles.

Thus, the Swype keyboard will no longer receive updates and evolve. Also, the developers announced that they would soon remove their application from the App Store.

The creator of the text input method without lifting a finger from the touchscreen is Cliff Kushler, who previously created the predictive text input system T9.
